Customer retention and growing revenue in existing accounts is a challenge that many Customer Success and Client Services leaders face.
Those that I speak with tell me that they want their Account Managers to be more proactive, assertive and confident when it comes to retention and revenue generating efforts.
In a couple of Customer Success teams that I'm working with at the moment - the biggest issue is inexperienced managers and young AM's who lack confidence to proactively bring ideas to clients (even if it is in the customers best interests). The managers and AMs know "what to do" they just can't model or execute the "how to" questions or share insights that stimulate additional purchases.
